Frequently Asked Questions

The following applies to undergraduates, 5th year scholars and alumni scholars. If you are an alumni scholar without an advisor, please contact the foundation office as soon as possible, and we will pair you with an advisor:

Q: When are scholarship checks distributed?
A: Scholarship checks are sent to students on October 1st, December 1st, February 1st, and April 1st. These payment dates are the same every year.
Q: What is the payment amount for each scholarship check?
A: In the year 2008 and near future, students receive four scholarship checks of $2,000 throughout the academic school year. This makes a total of $8,000 per year with a $32,000 total over four years. If you are a 5th year or alumni scholar, this amount may be different depending on your award amount decided by the Alumni Association.
Q: When are official and unofficial transcripts due?
A: Official transcripts are due at the end of the academic school year and to be mailed to the foundation office. If you are a student on probation, an official transcript is due at the end of each quarter/semester, along with a complete transcript at the end of the academic year. The January transcript must include your official grades from the fall term.
Q: What is the required gpa?
A: Students are required to maintain a 3.0 accumulative gpa. If you do not maintain this gpa, you may be placed on probation and your scholarship may be terminated if it is not restored to a 3.0 after a set amount of time.
Q: What is the unit/course requirement?
A: Students are required to take a minimum of 12 units.
Q: What is the communication requirement?
A: Students are required to communicate with their advisor once every two months. If you are a student on probation, you are required to communicate with your advisor ONCE A MONTH. You are also required to forward your communications to the foundation office. If we do not see that you are communicating with your advisor, you may be dropped from the foundation.
Other Information:

Scholarship students are encouraged to communicate with the office themselves. We believe this is a time for students to take responsibility in their lives and practice professional skills. If you are a student with a question for the office, please email or call us personally. We require communication with the student directly and discourage parents and/or guardians updating information for their scholars.

Your time with the scholarship foundation is an excellent opportunity to develop your professional communication skills. In the age of text messaging and informal emails, we tend to forget the line between our professional and personal lives.
